5 Ways To Properly Address Poor Circulation In Your Home

As the holiday season comes to a close, it’s common for people to get sick as the seasons change. However, you’ll want to take every precaution to keep symptoms at a minimum, and that means making sure your home’s air circulation is up to snuff.

If you and your family are breathing stale air, you could be inhaling harmful airborne particles and even mold spores. Check out these five tips on how to improve air circulation in your home and start the New Year off healthier than ever!

Use Exhaust Fans

Exhaust fans control humidity levels by drawing moisture from the air, so make sure to install them in wet areas such as the kitchen and bathroom! Not only will reducing moisture discourage mold and mildew growth, but other impurities in the air will also be sucked into the vent along with excess condensation.

Open Doors & Windows

Although it may not be a preferable option during the colder months, cracking open your doors and windows is a simple way to boost your indoor air quality. The more windows you open on mild weather days, the more fresh air will be able to move in and stale air will move out.

Turn On Your Ceiling Fans

Fans are a great way to get rid of stagnant air and improve overall circulation! During the winter, running your ceiling fans clockwise at a low speed can actually help keep you and your family warm as this pushes warm, lighter air down to the floor while pulling heavy, cooler air up and away from you.

Install Attic Vents

Even if you don’t venture up to your attic very often, improper ventilation up there allows stale air to become trapped and eventually seep through your attic’s floors and into your home. Consider installing specialized attic vents, along with fans which will cycle air in and out of your attic, consequently improving your home’s circulation and indoor air quality.

Create Fewer Emissions

While it’s important to utilize home systems that encourage circulation, it’s also important that you limit the use of appliances that distribute toxins, such as heaters and gas stoves. If you use them too often, your other systems will need to use much more energy to combat excess impurities.
